Early start today for meetings in Boston and plans to get at least three things off the perpetual list of things-hanging-over-my-head. Just found a link to Brian Greene’s contest results (String Theory in Two Minutes or Less) which looks interesting even though I don’t have time to watch it today. If you get a chance to see it, let me know if it’s worth the time…

And if I am only for myself, then what am I?
And if not now, when?"

Interesting little video. The science is good and concise and they do a credible job of presenting it in two minutes. Of course, it doesn’t address the question: If quarks and electrons are made of strings, what are strings made of? The girl doing the narration has a strange accent I can’t place (Hindi?), but is pleasing to listen to. Nice that they used a duck. Q: What sound does a quantum duck make? A: Quark! Quark! Someone did their homework to find that little bit of physics humor.

When you get the time, read Walter Isaacson’s “Einstein”. Incredible book. The science is made fairly accessible. The unspoken metaphysics and philosophical implications will blow your mind.
